Creamsicle Fragrance: Reinventing a Classic of Childhood Summers
A creamsicle revival is happening across America – and we just can’t resist jumping on this bandwagon!
The beloved and nostalgic dessert that brought such joy to childhood since the 1930’s is back. In fact, it’s everywhere. From Wendy’s brand new Orange Dreamsicle frosty to healthy, all-natural Creamsicle Kombucha – you can get it all. Then, there’s the “McDonald’s Orange Creamsicle” hacks making the rounds on social media, where fans of the golden arches order vanilla soft serve mixed with orange Hi-C.
Not even the culinary world is able to resist the allure of this sweet treat. Nation’s Restaurant News points out that orange creamsicle drinks are popping up on menus across the country.
Popular culinary websites and magazine are sharing nostalgic recipes, like this No Bake Creamsicle Cheesecake from Delish (doesn’t it look delicious?)! Julia Child, the queen of orange desserts, would be so proud.

The History of Creamsicle
The Creamsicle was introduced to the world in the late 1930s, after the birth of the popsicle.
It all began with an 11 year old boy named Francis “Frank” William Epperson. On one cold California night in 1905, Frank left a syrupy drink with a stirring stick sitting out. By the next morning, it had frozen to the stick. In the early 1920s, he began to recreate his accidental invention. He originally called it the “Epsicle” but his children called it “Pop’s Sicle.” In 1922, Epperson began selling them at “Popsicles”. It was an immediate hit, with one stand at Coney Island selling 8,000 popsicles in a single day.
The Creamsicle was later created by the Joe Lowe Company, who bought the rights to the Popsicle brand in the 1925. Originally introduced as a new variety of Popsicle with an ice cream center, the Creamsicle quickly gained popularity with American youth. The original Creamsicle was only in available in orange, but eventually other flavors were introduced. Today, there are three flavors available, but none as iconic as the original orange.
Of course, Creamsicle is still a summertime favorite for kids and adults alike. Did you know there’s even a National Creamsicle Day celebrated on August 14 of each year?
